HIIT FOR WEIGHT LOSS AND TONING
Our HIIT classes provide a full body workout that will get your heart pumping and the muscles working. HIIT sessions are all about increasing your training capacity by keeping your heart rate up for an extended period. You’ll burn fat and tone muscles, whilst developing your fitness levels over time.
WHAT IS HIIT TRAINING?
HIIT (or High Intensity Interval Training), is a training technique in which you give maximum effort for a short period of time through quick, intense bursts of exercise. This is followed by a short, sometimes active recovery period.
Our sessions mainly consist of a circuit set up with a series of stations targeting a variety of muscle groups. Every now and then we throw a spanner in the works and do a completely different type of HIIT session that might include a dice or pack of cards. You won’t know what exercises are coming next!
BENEFITS OF HIIT
Great if you’re short on time: HIIT is great if you have a limited amount of time to work out. Studies have shown that just 15 minutes of high intensity interval training burns more calories than jogging on the treadmill for an hour. By keeping your heart rate up you’ll burn more fat in a shorter period of time.
Boosts metabolism: HIIT will help you consume more oxygen than a non-interval workout routine. The excess amount of oxygen consumed helps increase your rate of metabolism and as a result, you’ll burn more calories at a faster rate.
Burn calories after you leave the gym: When participating in this type of training, your body’s repair cycle goes into overdrive. This means that your body is still burning calories and fat up to 24 hours after you’ve left the gym.
Effective use of energy: Through interval training your body learns how to efficiently use the energy that comes from your body’s energy systems. HIIT also helps remove toxic wastes from your muscles during the resting periods. Alternating between the exercises also helps your breathing, getting oxygen into your system more effectively.
WHY DO HIIT INSTEAD OF CARDIO
It’s hard for most people to push themselves to an anaerobic zone where you lose your breath and feel your heart pounding. With interval training it’s easier to push yourself to that level because of the rest period that comes right after you reach that point. This helps keep a healthy heart and blood flowing effectively throughout your body.
It’s also a challenge for all levels. Beginners will see results quickly, but because you’re always pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone, fitness fanatics will be challenged by this type of workout too.

Don’t worry if it’s been a while since you’ve done any exercise or been to HIIT classes before. Our dedicated trainers will ensure the workouts cater for all levels. They’ll make sure there are appropriate weights for everyone and will adapt each exercise, making it easier or harder to suit individual needs.
